Proven Success

In 2005 Oconee Medical Center and the physicians in our community made the commitment to transform the delivery of healthcare in Oconee County and the surrounding area. This commitment required a substantial investment of time and resources on the part of the physicians. As a result, Preferred Health Service physicians are e-prescribing, sharing health information electronically, reducing medication errors, and eliminating duplication of tests. These initiatives have increased quality of care, enhanced efficiencies and reduced costs that otherwise could not be achieved by physicians and Oconee Medical Center working independently.

As one of the largest employers in Oconee County, we fully understand the importance of making the most of every dollar spent on our employees' healthcare. For that reason, on January 1, 2009, Oconee Medical Center entered into an agreement with Preferred Health Services to provide OMC employees access to PHS' unique comprehensive healthcare management program. Today, nearly70% of our employees have completed a health risk assessment and are working to achieve their personal health goals. Not only does this improve our bottom line by controlling healthcare expenses, it is good for our employees and the long-term health of our work force. While some national indicators show employee benefit costs rising at an alarming rate of more than 10% per year, we have seen a 30%decrease in our upward trend.

We invite you to learn more about our experience and the ways in which PHS and our medical community are improving quality, controlling costs and helping people live more fully.
